Weeknotes – App Histories and bits

A long couple of weeks. The main task for this week has been to develop the App Histories toolkit and begin updating the documentation as well. It now needs some testing and beginning to use it for some actual work. Next steps will be to develop some tools to interact with the data, but I am relatively happy. Time to use it… It has been an interesting experience to re-architect the package and add in new functionality. At the suggestion of a colleague, I used Claude to give me an architectural and code review that was a tough read. However, I am also on the Digital Skills in the Arts and Humanities (DISKAH) project so there is a point to all this work.

On top of that, I am working on a small project about machine listening. So, the work is getting done.

I do need to complete my paper for the King’s Digital Conference that takes place shortly. I will be presenting work on the Friday that focuses on a reading of sound in BASIC.

I do have a hard deadline of the Digital Humanities RSE Summer School in Manchester. Given today’s work with patches and so on, it will be great to have a refresher.
