I have been following the feministlabs hashtag on Twitter to watch the What is a Feminist Lab? symposium. Rich would be an understatement so far from what I have seen and it is still going…
The Civic Laboratory for Environmental Action Research (CLEAR) lab linked to their publication on author order, Equity in Author Order, something that I have been bitten by before in other places. As well as providing some potential frameworks for author ordering, I found that the paper demonstrated alternative ways of collaborative working and recognising the efforts of all involved.
The Shit Academics Say feed pushed up Maestre’s paper about Ten Simple Rules towards Healthier Research Labs. A very different paper indeed. My take away was the emphasis on respect in terms of people, working hours / holiday time, and style of work. It is easy to consider a lab as a whole entity rather than a collection of people or projects and to make them relatively unhealthy quickly.
